The western group of Temples an inspiring and awesome backdrop, the Chitragupta Temple dedicated to Surya (the sun god) and the Vishwanatha Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva form the venue for this cultural rendezvous. Against this spectacular backdrop the past and present come together to celebrate the rich tradition of Indian art as the dusk descends. The whole experience is bound to make one spellbound, an experience worth remembering for lifetime.

An Array Of Divine Arts at Khajuraho

The Khajuraho dance festival is organized by Eicher and Madhya Pradesh Kala Parishad, with an aim to make the cultural heritage of Khajuraho relevant to the present society and preserving it for the coming generation. For this purpose it draws the best classical dancers in the country every year. It showcases various classical styles of Indian dance such as Kathak, Bharat Natyam, Odissi, Kuchipudi, Manipuri and Kathakali. The performance is a feast for the senses of those who love art and music. Modern Indian dance is a recent addition. Every evening, two accomplished artists from different genres perform in the open-air auditorium.

Besides the dance performances, visitors and tourists can buy local handmade garments and articles in an open market space.

On the whole the Khajuraho dance festival is bound to make one spellbound, an experience worth remembering for a long times to come.

Light and Sound Show at the western group of Temples

The show is organized to tell the story of the life and times of the great Chandela Kings and traces the history of the unique temples from the 10th Century to the present day. The mesmerizing voice of none other than the legendry Indian superstar Amitabh Bachchan, narrates the story of Khajuraho to add to the thrill of the glittering evening.

Mounted in the complex of the Western Group of temples, the 50-minute show runs in Hindi and in English every evening.
